I did everything right to have a natural vaginal birth but........
Possible Reasons For a Cesarean Section
When a woman goes to the hospital to have her baby, there are many reasons why she could end up having a Cesarean Section, not the least of which is that the baby's life has somehow become threatened or compromised. When that does happen then a cesarean section is the only way for a safe outcome for mother and baby. However these are some of the more common reasons seen for the first cesarean section:
Concerns about the baby's heart rate, aka Fetal Distress
Going past 41 or 42 weeks( what is the true due date?)
Maternal Exhaustion
Malposition of Baby including Posterior Position
Breech Baby, Twins & Other Multiple Births
Baby "Too Big"(subjective topic)
Failure to Progress
Fetal Anomalies
Placenta Previa
Various Infections
Most women who have had a Cesarean Section can safely have a vaginal birth with their next pregnancy. Many of the issues mentioned above do not repeat themselves in subsequent pregnancies and can be resolved in other ways.
As a VBAC mom myself, it is my wish and passion to assist any woman who wants to have a vaginal birth. I invite you to go to my blog page Birth Talk here at the end of my website and read my story.
Also as the Chapter Leader for the International Cesarean Awareness Network for Palm Beach County I am here as a support and resource for you to have your vaginal birth.
