Welcome to Blissful Birthing and Beyond.
My name is Valerie Schuster and I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula and my goal is for you to have the special birth experience that you want for you and your baby. Have you thought about what kind of birth you would like to have? Did you know that there are many options open to you and that what you choose will impact you and your baby for the rest of your lives? The birthing experience brings a special bonding and joy between mother and baby that cannot be compared to any other experience you will ever have.
My passion is to help you have the gift of a blissful birth. As your Doula.....your birth, your labor, your comfort, your health, and your being informed are my primary concern.
After having a cesarean with the birth of my first son Cameron, I successfully delivered Tyler eight years later—by VBAC, with the support of a midwife and doula. This amazing experience awakened my desire to become a Doula myself. As a mother and birth support professional I understand the importance of making an informed choice to create a positive labor and postpartum experience.
If I can make even the smallest change in the mindset of our society that birth is not an illness that needs to managed and interfered with but a natural process that can bring us closer together as a human family than that is my mission and my purpose. I walk by faith not by sight and by the power of my faith and belief in women birthing naturally.
I am originally from Brooklyn, NY and now reside in Palm Beach County Fl. I embark on this journey with the support of Rolf, my husband of 34 years, my two wonderful sons and lots of family and friends, whom I have assisted through the years, as a Postpartum Doula when I did not know that was what I was doing. I am proud and privileged to be a part of a group of women that assist women on the most empowering and joyous journey of their lives, giving birth and being a mom.

The word Doula comes from the ancient Greek meaning a woman or man who serves and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth.
All such support is evidenced based and studies have shown that women who are supported by a Doula have shorter labors with less complications, and healthier babies who breastfeed more easily.
